As usual, English football supporters will be showing their allegiance to their team by displaying the White Ensign because it has the Cross of St George on it. Will the police be doing anything about these law breakers?

Displaying the White Ensign is illegal unless permission is given by the Royal Navy.

The White Ensign has a Union Flag in the top left hand corner. The flag of Saint George doesnot. They are two different flags! Aren't there enough people trying to take our heritage away from us? I shall continue to fly the English flag from my car (in fact I shall probably add another one now) with great pride...and await the flag police!!!!!
I think the business of flying flags on cars is tacky to say the least but if anyone tried to stop it I would be the first to rebel and fly the flags. Besides the police are far too busy catching people speeding at 34MPH to worry about flags, unless of course they could on the spot fine you 60 a pop they might go for that.
Well skids not sure why you are trying to stir the sh1t but I have yet to see a white ensign being flown. I have seen quite a few George crosses though.

I bet I know what you thought..........

never mind skids !

I love it when people come out with cr@p like this because the more it is said the more flags you see flying.
They are going to hang them from the nearest yardarm!
According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Ensign):

The White Ensign is also used by some football supporters who write the name of their club along the horizontal arm of St. George's cross. As the White Ensign can only be used with the permission of the Royal Navy, the flying of the ensign by football fans is technically illegal, though it is unlikely that charges will ever be laid. To mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, restrictions on the use of the flag were temporarily lifted in October 2005.

I'm not sure if the writer of this is confused too: I don't recall seeing the white ensign at the footie (usually either St George's Cross or the Union Jack).

The bit about the Trafalgar celebrations was interesting, though.

.... and here is a White Ensign .......

I've seen the White Ensign at many an England game. A guy I used to work wi had a huge White Ensign. God knows where he got it as there's not a great demand for things Royal Naval in Northants....
