texting from abroad

I am going to Greece soon and would like to text my friends in England. Do you have still put the +44 as the International dialing code even though you are texting a mobile. Also do you miss the first 0 of the number you are ringing. Can anyboady give me any help?

But be aware that the person you are calling may have to pay to receive the texts.

when I have done this from abroad, I always put +44 and missed off the 0, but then it comes up as number not recognised. When I just use the number as it stored in my phone I get through no trouble - can anyone explain that!

Hi! It would save you money to buy a SIM card in Greece rather than using roaming on your UK SIM. You do have to dial 0044 or +44 then the mobile number wihout the first 0. Lx

Laurinha is right - but unly if your phone is not locked a specific network provider. Most phones nowadays are locked - so they won't work with a SIM from another provider (unless you get your phone unlocked first!)

I'm on Orange pay as u go and I just dial the UK number and the phone does all the +44 and anything else that's needed

Why go on holiday and then text your friends ?

I thought holidays were all about getting away from it all.

Have a break from it, leave the phone at home, or at least dont keep texting your friends all the time.

p.s. It may cost you about 75p for each text you send.

When i was in USA I was able to text home without changing the number from 0 to +44. Also, it only cost 25p per text, that was with 02
