a few months ago i had an accident which was the other drivers fault i have sent copies of the police report to my insurance company, but they are still making me pay as if it was my fault and have taken my no claims away!, i have spoke to them and they say this is how it works until it is all sorted out and then they will back pay it, but i cant afford the extra im having to pay, is this normal? is there anything i can do?

It is a pain but this is how things are done. Until they receive the monies from the others persons insurance company they cannot pay you. Once the claim is resolved the other person has admitted fault or the 2 insurance companies have battled it out between them & they have received all their bits and bobs - including the money - they will pay you. - Harsh I know!
The fact of the matter is that you have a "no-claims" discount, not a "no-blame" one. If your insurance company has paid out for repairs to your vehicle it means that you have in actual fact claimed against your own policy.
Once actual blame is sorted out you may get your discount back but it could take a long time.
