I have been living at my current address for the last 2 years, however I have never voted or let any council know where I live? Is this a problem? I still pay council tax mind you, am I being shafted somewhere?? How do I find out if they have me registered??

You should receive a form to fill in every year to get yourself on the electoral register. I'm sure there is a fine of c1000 for not filling it in and returning it!

Phone the council and they should be able to check if you are registered.
Actually, around my way what happens if you don't fill it in is a very prim woman in twin set and perls knocks on your door and fills in your details whilst pulling a face like she's just sucked a lemon.

I forgot one year - I was told off! - I'm a baaad boy!
I don't think it's compulsary to be on the electoral register. I was last on it a few years ago and have moved several times since without re-registering. It's probably advisable to get on it though if you wish to get credit or a loan etc, and of course it's essential if you want to vote.

And search for yourself, this has everyone on the electoral register on it. Although, it might be a bit out of date so may still have your old address listed.
