Compensation Claim / Legal Advice

I have recently sustained a leg injury whilst shopping in a Menswear store in Leicester when the front of the counter fell off onto the back of my leg!! I have sustained heavy bruising and nerve damage (confirmed by a visit to the doctors) I then wrote to the Group and their reply is sorry but here is a �25 Gift Voucher!!.
Therefore I am unhappy with their response and are now looking to take this further. Can anyone suggest a reputable company to use for legal advice who are not going to cost me a fortune or rip me off further. I wouldn't normally go down this route but I am so angry.

Most solicitors will offer "no win , no fee" for small personal injury claims. This means you do't pay them for the work but they will get a cut of anything you recover.

most "no win no fee" compensation offers mean that you have to have spent at least 1 night in hospital. or at least had to go to casualty ... it dosen't sound like either of those things happened. Do you have permanent nerve damage twiggy? WHat kind of ways does this nerve damage affect your life or well being? What can't you do now that you used to be able to do? Have you had to see a specialist?

I'm probably jumping to conclusions but from the information you have put, it dosen't sound like your injury was very serious, or permanent and perhaps the 25 pounds covers the injury you sustained?
Of course i could have got it all wrong, and it might really be affecting your life, and i'm sorry if it is. However, my philosophy is that accidents happen, and ok so you had to endure some pain and bruising, but i can't really see that you'll get a lot of compensation for that ... t he best line of attck might be the nerve damage, but if its not bad enough to see a specialist, or go to hospital for then i dont know its worth it. What would you consider reasonable?

Lolly Smoo's reply isn't quite right. No win no fee means, if they dont win they don't get paid. You will have to take out an insurance against losing in case you have costs awarded against you. This however is rare as your case wouldn't be taken on if there is much risk of you losing. The solicitors will recover their costs from the store company's insurers and should in no way take a cut of any compensation monies awarded to you. If a solicitor suggests to you they should, or asks you to agree to any compensation monies being paid directly to them go to another solicitor.
