I need to motorise my awning,any help/advice?

I have a garden awning that is hand operated by a pole hooking into an eyelet.

Due to an accident,it is very difficult for me now to keep winding this in and out,and wouldn't be too difficult a job to attach a motor to the roller,(it actually is designed to take a motor)

Does anyone know how I would work out what size electric motor I need to do the job, or does anyone have a motorised one and could give me the motor specs?

The awning stretches 3m from the building.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Look in your local yellow pages for a small independent company who would be happy to give you advice.

It will only be the cost of a phone call - or better still, visit them.

How about rigging up a cordless or electric drill - one with reverse.
Honestly, I don't know much about that but I can refer you to the relevant company which is most demanding in its field.
