If there were no crime at all in the UK what percentage of the people employed in crime prevention,law courts,prisons,barristers, police and so on would be out of work?Just wandering.

I can't give you the true figures but I think -

the sudden rise in the unemployment of people working in crime prevention would result in

- these people turning to crime to pay there bills
- incresing crime levels
- which results in them being able to have there jobs back!

And with no crime there would less insurance claims, putting those people out of work.

And we would need less insurance, making some companies go bankrupt.

And less car repairs due to less car breaks in etc.

And less security guards.

Wow, it is amazing how crime keeps the economy going !
And if there were no crime in the UK this question would not have been posted nor answered so how much time would that have saved ?

Great answers, thankyou all. Rojash you may jest what made me think of this was when a local newspaper reported that a youth, who had been issued an ASBO, actually quoted something like that, in court!!
