I've got a load of old slides, the type you hold up to the light to view, of us as children. Where would I go to have them turned into a more easily viewable, photograph type format?
There are more than a few scanners available that will allow you to copy colour slides onto your computer for printing as photographs. But Jessops may be able to do it for you. Otherwise, there's this site
If you do buy a scanner then a Epson perfection 3490 photo scanner is ideal for the job. It comes complete with a separate holder that will hold slides and film. You can load 4 slides at a time and they come out fine.
About a year ago I decided that it was about time to transfer some ancient slides to CD so that they wouldn't deteriorate any more. Altougth I have a scanner I don't have one that incorporates the transfer of slides to photo. In the end I went to a 'Jessops' and had some 80 slides transferred to disc.
I think it cost me 34ish. Saved a lot of mucking about and I was very pleased with the results. To buy an adaptor for the scanner would be about 80ish ( I think)
I too have heard reports that trying to scan your own slides doesn't give very good results. You need much better equipment than the average home scanner to get good results.
