Never done one so I cant vouch for this website, however it does look simple and fairly idiot proof (umm not that I'm calling you an idiot!)

If you don't like the look of that one, if you type "making a blog" into Google it does bring up a load, a good many of them (including that one^^^) are free.

I would recommend www.livejournal.com

It is easy to use and one of the most popular blogging sites around. As far as I can remember it's very easy to set up an account with them too.
