hi there ... im hoping to fit a dimmer switch for my main light in my bedroon.... but will it work with a power saving light bulb ??????

unfortunately not, will only work with standard lamps, and maybe some low voltage (12v) lamps
Agree with mullins. Ive fitted power saving bulbs throughout my house and know for a fact they dont work on dimmers.
It depends on what type of energy saving bulb you have. If its a Compact Fluorescent bulb, then no, but you can get get an incandescent energy saving bulb which you can use in any application where you would use a standard incandescent bulb.
