Electric Fires

I've been looking at buying an electric fire. It would be an inset fire with the outside of the fire being flush with the grate. Where does the lead come from to plug into electrical socket which is about 4 feet from the grate? Help!!

The electric supply cable has to be fitted with a non return electric socket up to CE standard 5723. The chimney must be swept clean so any radiation from the fire can safely escape up the chimney and into the atmosphere, the fitter should fit a sub particle filter on the chimney to stop and any particles inversely returning though a static downdraft. Why not take a look at the new wireless fires they cost a little bit more but are a lot more economical to run and would certainly solve your cable problem. I hope this things seem a lot clearer now. Keep warm.
