How do you connect a recordable DVD?

My mum has just bought a recordable DVD player and already has:
TV
Sky
Video
The instructions for connection ignore the video player - an anyone tell me what I need to connect to what to make sure that everything works? Is there a website with instructions?

Hi Nicky,
if i am understanding you right you want to connect a
video recorder as well a dvd recorder. at the rear of
your sky box you should have a second scart input. connect your
video recorder to this. then when you watch your video,
switch av inputs on your remote control.although you could
disregard your video and use your dvd recorder as it is a far superior format. if you have video tapes you can copy
these on to disc, just get the appropriate leads, usually
three phono leads with white / red / yellow ends at one end
and a scart fitting at the other end, connect the scart end to the scart output of your vcr, and the phono ends to the camcorder / aux sockets on your dvd.

I have sky, a tv, a video, a dvd recorder and a dvd player all connected using the suggestions mentione but I use the svideo out from Sky sraight into the svideo in on my DVD recorder as the picture and sound are really sharp. that will leave our scart free fro connecting to you video recorder.

You can get an svideo lead from Asda fro about �5.50 which is a bargain and I use mine all the time as the sources on the dvd recorder read front av, rear av, scart, svideo and the hdd thing hich I don't have

OR...

Currys sell a "Scart switcher" for about �15.00. This little device has (switchable) Scart input sockets and a Scart output lead.
If you use the output from this as the Scart input to your new recorder, and the Scart outputs from the Sky and Video units as inputs to the device, you've effectively got a choice of devices (Sky or Video) sending signals to your new recorder.
The device is manually switched (by pressing a button).

If you do go down this route, you'll find you can do a lot more with the device (if you read the instructions carefully), 'cos one of the its input Scart sockets can also be an output!
