Heat is transferred through conduction (solid contact), convection (fluid mixing) and radiation (light). These three possibilities are isolated and limited by the construction of the vacuum flask.
It doesn't.

It just keeps it at the temperature it is, more or less
There is a little switch on the bottom of the flask.
