To pass Maths at AS level, is a pass required in all 3 units (Pure, stats and mechanics), or can you get a pass if you narrowly fail 1 of the units but get high scores in the other 2 units?

When I did it, you had to pass every module. For the full A-Level you had to pass P1, P2, and P3, and then any further combination - which was usually M1, S1 and S2, or S1, M1 and M2. All had to be of a pass-grade or better.

As long as the points you did recieve do add up to a grade, you will be able to pass. Say you got an A in the first bit and a B in the next bit, you should get a low pass even though you failed the rest. My boyfriend did the same with history, so I know it is possible. Either that or you could just resit that bit....

When i did it, the exam was made up of 2 parts - pure maths and then one of either stats or mechanics (your choice). I chose stats and never had to do any mechanics at all. Although it could depend on the board
