Annoying telesales call!!!

How do I stop companies calling my home phone number trying to sell me something?

This is especially annoying as I do shift work.

(If I wanted a new mobile phone / kitchen / loan / mortgage etc etc I'd search for a company...I woud not deal with a stranger who caledrandomly!!)

Register with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS)...

I used to get lots of calls and registered with the people above.

Now I get the occasional call but thats it.

do what i do,

answer the call and either

1) as soon as they speak say 'hold one there is someone at the door' and leave the phone of the hook (they soon get the hit).

2) or pretend that you are so interested and ask them questions about them , ie: wow that such an amazing offer, whats your name, whats you favourite colour, etc etc ie nonsense,

or do as above in previous posts

I have a Jack Russell that goes beserk when I talk on the phone this is very handy for telesales if you waggle the receiver near his mouth for a few minutes.
It is not so funny when I actually want to hear my calls.

if you have a mobile tell anyone that you need to be able to contact you in emergency to use that and unplug your land line.
as said before register on TPS anyway, it works.
