Boiler problems.

I have had the same boiler in my house since I moved in about 8 years ago so I got a quote for a new one. Ever since the plumber has been I've had no hot water. I've never had a problem with it in the past so I think he did something to it. the pilot light is on but theres no hot water. What did he do and how can I fix it? thanks in advance.

Is it a combi boiler? If it is do you have heating ok? If you do have heating it could be that the boiler may need a new heat exchanger..failing that is the programmer/timer coming on and off at the designated times - also what make/model of boiler do you have? In defence of all the plumbers out there,it is like being a doctor, they may have to make quite a few diagnostic checks to get to the root of the problem...it isnt easy fixing boilers ! LOL.

Im saying I think the plumber sabotaged the boiler to get the work.
I dont know if its a combi.
The pilot light is on.
Theres no hot water.
The boiler is stuck to the wall in my kitchen with 4 pipes going up into my loft.
Its a BAXI WM 51/3RS

Do you have constant hot water?

If so it's a combi. Have you checked the temp dials?
Or what dials to you have on the front of the boiler?

Baxi's are crap boilers to be honest, it sounds like its just a back boiler which indicates not a combi, this just looks after your hot water only......I shall ask my eng friend for some pointers for you - unless you can ask the ABer chap on here namely the 'gasman' - he could advise you asap Im sure....good luck...oh and I suggest you change your plumber :-(

Funnily enough I said the very same thing about our boiler the other day, we had it fixed in October and ever since, we had a problem with the hot water, not the heating, but the water was only running hot after 10 minutes and then would go hot & cold, until it became a nuisance and we got it sorted for �200. I'm not normally a cynical person, and the bloke seems OK but when you don't know anything, you leave yourself wide open.

We had the same problem a little while ago. We called the plumber back and it turns out that when he'd turned off the water it caused a big reduction in water pressure and it was too low for the hot water to work. (I don't really understand the logic behind this, maybe someone can explain this better?). Anyway, he flicked a switch or two in the boiler and the hot water worked again. Only took a couple of seconds.
