I have also had this a couple of times and don't know why. Any telephone engineers out there care to explain?
These are exchange faults. Call your telephone provider and report them.
Interesting, mibn
Do you have BT's 1571 answer service? If so, it could just be them letting you know that there is a message waiting. Also, we had a spate of calls apparently from our own number, which turned out to be voice texts from a so called 'friend'. Don't know how or why it happens though and you may be just as well ignoring them.
These kinds of calls are usually from axe murderers calling from the extension in the bedroom. You will find they happen mostly when their is a teenage girl baby sitting.

Get out of the house quick, and DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU!
this hppens when someone texts your number and when you dial 1571 it is read back to you.
