Moldy pillows

Help!! I have just found 4 feather pillows, in an old suit case and although they are 'clean' they smell rather moldy. I have sprayed them with Febreeze and have 'aired' them over the shower, they are a lot better but they do still smell. Any hints welcome on how to get rid of the smell so that I can use them, would be gratefully accepted. Very many thanks

The instructions for thick feather skiing coat were to wash at 40 degrees ,med spin , then tumble dry with tennis balls. Took ages but was as new ( used woolite liquid to wash)

You could have them dry cleaned - that would do it.

Or I'm a bit of a gambler and I'd put it in the washing machine with a cap ful of fabreze in the conditioner and put it on a cool wool wash

Chuck em out.

They'll always smell mouldy now.

Save the dry cleaning cost to go towards new ones.

tie them up in a bag full of 'shake and va'c and leave them to take the smell in, keep shaking the bag and then leaving it to rest etc till you think they have had enough.

I wash feather pillows every year. Best done in summer - Wash as normal in the machine with your favourite powder etc. Hang on the line on good sunny/windy days for a few days and then tumble dry (with tennis balls) on low until they feel dry. I always air them again on the line for another day.
