Planes landing with windows open?

Why when taking off and landing do the pilots ask you to keep with windows open?

Also, why do Easyjet planes switch their lights off during taking off and landing?

When the lights are dimmed, passengers eyes get used to a low level of brightness, and so in the event of an evacuation they will be able to see better in the low-level emergency lighting.

The window blinds are kept open during take-off and landing to give better visibility, both from the inside out and vice versa - this way in the case of emergency both the crew and an eventual emergency team outside the plane can see what�s happening and make more informed decisions.

Don't know about the first bit - I'd like to know too - but someone told me that when you are coming in to land or taking off the plane with all its lights on looks more like a UFO - blurring through the sky. I think thats rubbish it will have something to do with studies saying it is safer for passengers if there's any trouble if all the main lights are off.

i think Easyjet turn off the lights just to save money..
