It is so frustrating when you go to the bother of typing out an answer, then post it, only to find that it doesn't appear! Before typing, where does it show that the person no longer requires any more answers?

as far as i know you cannot stop answers being added to a question you've posted. "closing" the question by clicking the link to the right only stops you being notified by email that someone has answered. if your answers aren't appearing it must be some other issue.

I am aware that you can request no more answers by clicking on 'Got an Answer - click here'. Surely this would also mean that other users can no longer reply, therefore A/B should show this somewhere on the question, to save typing answers & trying to post them - if you get my drift????
Yes I do smudge but when the questioner closes the question other aber's might come in late and have an answer that is different to the already answered and provide for future users.

P'raps I didn't explain myself properly. I can't understand why, when I type an answer out & post it, it doesn't always appear on A/B. This only happens on questions that have had lots of replies already, so I just wondered whether, when the questioner has had sufficient answers & wishes no further responses, can you still post further answers on that subject, if so why doesn't my postings appear? Oh, I know what I mean!
Nope Smudge, I know what you mean as well but it doesn't work like that.......anyone can post to any thread for as long as the AB editor(s) decide to keep the question in the vault the only thing that happens is that the automated service which sends an email to tell you you have an answer is switched off......I can vouch for this cause after getting about 300 replies to my infamous "Record attempt" thread I had to switch off the replies as it was filling up my inbox so much.

Okey dokey, you've all kindly replied to my question. BUT I'll always wonder why my posted answers don't always show up on screen - like now for instance - wierd!
smudge - This is only an idea but have you fallen foul of the pop-up stoppers ban?

What's that Cetti?
smudge, there may be a clue to your problem in your latest reply: "This only happens on questions that have had lots of replies already".

This site displays 20 answers were page - so the 21st answer will appear on a second page. Look at the thin green box at the bottom of this page. It says how many answers there are. If more than 20 there would be a link to 'Next 1>>', 'Next 9>>' or whatever. As, for example: question 37385

Thanx AB Editor, the penny has now dropped! I'd overlooked answers past 20 etc., but now have it sussed. I did actually post a reply to NicolaDavies which didn't appear, but checking back, that's the only one - so far. Cheers!
