how does popcorn come from sweetcorn, what's the physics behind this that makes this work, (I've had many sleepless nights!)

Not sure of the exact physics but it's popping corn you need. It's something to do with when you heat the corn the insides all expand and the pops out and you get popcorn. The hard bits you gat are part of the original corn shell.
It isn't sweetcorn that popcorn is made from but varieties of flint corn, as to the physics I explained it before down at the bottom of this thread http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/DisplayAnswers.go?q
