I subscribe to LOVEFILM.com and some of the films I get can be scratched. It is very annoying to watch a large part of a film and then for it to grind to a halt because somebody has scratched it. Is there any way of checking a disc before watching it to know whether it will play all the way through, a visual check doesn't always work. Is there any software that will run a check on a DVD. When in doubt I always carefully wash the DVD before watching it. Thanks in advance.

believe it or not, Colemans mustard is a great policy for dvd's and cd's and when used in conjunction with a lint-free cloth can recover most media.
