Digital Camera saying battery flat

My digital camera is completely dead, won't even turn on. I think its a problem with the battery section as it kept saying battery flat and then turned off but I've tried several sets of batteries and it still won't do anything. Anyone got any idea what might be wrong with it?

I had a similar thing with my camera, had used ordinary AA batteries in it since ne until one day it went like yours. I took it into Jessops and they tried Lithium AA batteries in it and it worked, so as they charged a fortune for the batteries, I popped along to Boots where they had the same batteries for half the price of Jessops and it has worked ever since - so this might be worth a try btw my camera is a Fuji Finepix if that helps at all.

Thanks for you answer. I'll pop to boots tomorrow and give some a try. Thanks again!
another hint is, take the batteries out when not in use. my fine pixs a360 eats batteries otherwise. i will try the lithium idea though.
