get hold of the large wheel on the back of the tub and see if you can rock it in and out. it may be that the tub bearing has worn out, that would cause it to run off centre and the belt to throw off. if not. check the motor bearing in the same way. if all o.k. then are you tensioning the belt enough by the adjusters on the motor? the belt should be tight and you should be able to depress it about an inch if you press it hard in the centre of the widest length between the motor and tub wheel. if this all fails, are you sure you have the correct belt. does it sit nicely in the grooves.

Thanks for yor reply. The wheel does seem to move about abit, can these bearings be easily replaced and will it cost alot? Also there aren't any grooves on the wheel ????? This is a Samsung machine and the back cannot be removed.

Many thanks

put your finger on ( not between. !!! ) the inner drum and outer drum. get your son to lift the inner drum fairly hard, not fast just hard. with the belt off. if the bearings have gone there will be a large amount of movement between the two drums which will be very easily detected by your finger tips. but i repeat, don't put your finger between, just rest it on.
also check the wheel is not distorted. as you spin the drum does the wheel move in and out ( buckled ) or does it spin in an straight line?
some bearings can be changed fairly easily but you have to be fairly competent at diy to do ot.

ARRRRGGGGHHHH....don't know whether to just cut my loses!!!! It's already cost me 50 for a 'friend of a friend' to look at it, he drove round trying to find the right belt....tried to fit it, but being about 70 and weighing about 7 stones he couldn't fit it....hence son [brute strenght and ignorance.....lol] putting the belt on. I can buy a new one for 200. What do you all reckon?

Much love and dirty washing....

your right. cut your losses, if the tub bearing has gone ,the rest of the machine may be at an age where it will all start failing, if the programmer goes next its about 100, so don't waste your money on repairs.
