wires in studding walls

hi all, does anyone know what the i.e.e. regs say about cables in studding walls? as the walls will only be 5" thick, and the cables run to a light switch or socket say, through the centre of the timber, the other side of the wall will have cables that are not the required three inches deep, with no indication that they are there.
any ieas?

Hi there thundercrack, normally you would have capping on the inside of the wall to protect the cables, if the cables are coming up from the floorboards for the socket it should not be a problem.
