Three main functions. The services (never been to one directly) consist of mainly a leader who channels messages for audience members, although I presume they also have a short religious service based on the Christian church as I have been to the other functions, the spiritual development group and healing. They had a huge cross on the wall and still had a bit of Christian ritual in the development group although some of us weren't.
But the main function is to give evidence of survival after death. The vague messages that usually come through don't convince me but the other results were pretty impressive.
I went to one years ago and it was amazing. The womans face really appeared to change to that of an old indian chief who was her spirit guide. Even her voice changed. I looked all round for a projector or something but couldnt see anything fake. She passed on messages to various people in the audience, but not me or my friend. It was a great experience and one I would do again. If any of my friends had the nerve to come with me!
Try it, you might like it!
i used to go on a regular basis and i loved it, the atmosphere was so good and the people very friendly, you didnt think you were at a church, we used to have guest speakers and throughly enjoyed it. my niece was also christened in a spiritualist church. ive moved away from the area now and dont have one near me
Dont knock it till you've tried it folks. Real spiritualists never con people. They only charge 2-3 and each week they have a different medium, one that comes from another part of the country. The service starts with 2 hymns and The Lords Prayer usually followed by a prayer of protection from evil spirits which is read by the minister. A true medium will never ask you anything, they tell you! Strange how so many people believe in evil spirits yet chaff at the good like loved ones and friends who have passed on. I was a sceptic until I lost my parents but having had many messages from them over the years Im a firm believer in the afterlife:-)
chakka how do they con you? you dont pay anything only a donation if you wnat, just like a "normal" church"and if people find it enjoyable then what difference does it make?
Well, gina32, look at how Feena has been conned into believing in evil spirits, and led to imagine that she is contacting her dead parents. Isn't that cruel?
What happens if she ever discovers that the whole thing is phoney? Won't she be bitterly hurt? (Hope you are a 'she', Feena! Apologies if not.)
cant see in feenas post anywhere where she said she believed in them, just that a prayer was said to protect from them. as she said dont knock it till youve tried it, different strokes for different folks
No, but she doesn't treat evil spirits with the necessary derision, so she must at least taken them seriously to some degree.
If I 'try it' do I also have to try astrology, flat-earthism, Santa studies, fairyology, faith healing, homeopathy and magic crystals?
if you want to, yes. i think that we all class evil spirits differently dont we so whats evil to one isnt nessesarily evil to someone else. as i said different strokes......
