Help please - Vokera Combi Gas Boiler
3 Answers
I moved into a new flat about a month ago. The combi gas boiler was showing no pressure on the water pressure gauge, I thought it must be ok if the last occupants must have been operating it like that. I've had no hot water all afternoon - which I just thought was because I've been washing heaps of clothes and cleaning etc but about 10minutes ago the boiler started making a huge rumbling sound - is this dangerous? I've switched the water and heating off but the pilot light is still on. Any help would be most appreciated. Laura x

As the above advice. Don't try and operate the boiler again until you have found a way of putting water back into the system - should be possible using the above advice. Since you obviously have a gauge, inject water until the gauge reads 1 bar. Then you can try restarting the boiler but watch the gauge every day to see that it doesn't go down. The water is sealed in the system so the pressure should scarcely go down at all. If it is moving, water is escaping from the sealed system somewhere and you must contact a plumber or your landlord to find out where the water is going to.
Thanks guys. The letting agent called a corgi contractor. He's got the pressure back to normal and we are free to use the boiler again - the loud rumbling noise is a fan that's broken apparently, we are not free form the noise! The contractor said his remit was to get the hot water on again - not fix the fan so we still have the massive rumbling noise and can't use the central heating until the landlord forks out for the repair! Oh well, one can't have everything!
