2. Queen Camilla, the title is never rescinded, they may well add a suffix as in the late Queen mum, she was known as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. In the case of Camilla They'd probably come up with something but it would not be "Queen Camilla the King stepmum"!

2. She would be Queen Camilla, the Queen Dowager.
She could only be the Queen Mother if she were the actual mother of William, not step mother.
There is NEVER a king mother - Queen Mother is the correct title for a widowed queen consort whose son or daughter from the marriage is reigning king or queen.

Hiya Splat.
Me being me I've completely forgotten where I saw/read/heard this... But I could have sworn that it had been stated that Camilla would never be 'Queen Camilla.'
I'm not sure if it was something to do with her divorce and all that jazz but I'm about 75% certain that round the time of her marriage to Charles, loads of people got on their soap boxes about never recognising her as queen and insult to Diana and blah, blah, blah and the upshot was actually some sort of statement to the effect that she'd never have had the title 'Queen' anyway.
Or I could just be very confused... which is possibly more likely!

Queen Alexandra, mother of George V, certainly used the title Queen Alexandra the Queen Mother after Edward VII died.
Queen Mary preferred not to use the title Queen Mother, but she was Queen Mary the Queen Mother until our present queen was crowned, when her official title was Queen Mary the Queen Mother Dowager, and her daughter-in-law was Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

who eva says the QM was made up for Elizabeth to distinguish her from QE2 is correct
Queen Mother (as applied to Elizabeth) was not two nouns in apposition Queen and Mother
but an irregular genitive = Queen's Mother
And so I am astounded to read that Alex and Mary took the title as they were not the Queen's mother but mother in law of the current queen. None of the contemporary docs I have seen ever used it. Queen Mary in the 4 generation portrait of prince Chas in 1948 is called Queen Mary
She was not a title person, when she would telephone her husband King George V, she would open with "Hello, you old fool." and heard once - His Majesty is not yet on the line.......

So I think you've guessed they make up titles as and when the need arises
First tried with James I who had a choice - 6th of Scotland and fuuurst of England
so HE had a good idea - I know he said I will pass an act saying I am James VI and I
and he did. I think of Great Britain.
Elizabeth II I think you have realised is only Eliz II of England, and is Eliz I of Scotland, and if you think about it Eliz i of United Kingdom (started in 1801)
so she should be Elizabeth I (II) I
but you will find an act of parliament in 1952 that declares she shall be known as Elizabeth II of United Kingdom.....
Oh Chas Death it seems likely Camilla will be
Camilla Duchess of Cornwall
The Christian name + title shows she is a widow
