Can anyone help please. A wire from my daughters underwired bra has come out and has gone through the little holes in the drum of her washing machine. The machine is now making a noise as the drum goes round. How can we get the wire out.
think you will have to take the washing machine's tub off(the water tight casing which surrounds the drum). i wouldn,t even try this unless you have some idea of what you are at. what make is it & where do ya live?
Machine is a Bendix and she lives ib Gloucester.
Her dad can have a look at it but it's a fairly old machine so if needs be they might have to get a new one.
Is it safe to just leave the wire there for the time being?
I think you've had it - it is a very expensive mistake to make (speaking from experience) - I gave up wearing underwired bras because I couldn't be a***d to hand wash them and I couldn't afford to risk replacing my washing machine again!!!!
if you ring 08705950950 (tricity bendix/electrolux services) and choose the option for a service call, they will give you the number of the local repair agent- it should cost around 50 to 60 pound for someone to come out and remove it. cheaper than buying a new machine- it won't do any damage in short term as far as i know
Can you see it through the holes? We did manage to get a wire back out through the holes after spotting the wire through the drum. Needed a knitting needle and lots (and lots!) of patience, but it was good as new afterwards (the machine, not the bra wire!).
In future, put the bras in one of those mesh lingerie bags. Knots up less with the washing, and could save an expensive repair!
Good luck with getting it out of the drum, it can be done.
If th front of the machine comes off and you or someone feels confident to take the rubber door seal off then you will be able to look between the drum and the tub and see the wire ... just fish it out and revers the procedure to replace the rubber & front ...
