Does anyone know if Child Tax Credit is paid in advance of your childcare payments or in retrospect? I am trying to budget for when my son starts school in September and I am not sure whether I will receive another payment in September in addition to the payment I received on 16th August. Many thanks!

Nykkieberry - Ours was a complete nightmare. I filled out 4 forms all of which got lost. After god knows how many faxes, phone calls etc we finally got it sorted by doing it online via the Inland Rev's website. http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/menus/credits.htm Once you've logged in you can check how much & when it'll be paid. Ours comes thru every 4 weeks. If you get stuck their helpline is absolutely excellent and clear up any problems. Good Luck
