Right, I had a drunken conversation a few years ago, about which was more volitile, milk or uranium. It seems that I won the arguement and that that milk is more volatile. Why is this?

sounds as if you appeared more volatile than both uranium and milk and the person you were debating with was worried they would get a punch in the bracket...... no idea. apologies for annoying non informative post
Well it entirely depends on what your definition of volatile is.....and the isotope of Uranium.....and is it goats milk?
was the milk radioactive?
nitro glycerine milkshake.
In the true sense of the word, neither is volatile. A volatile substance is one that evaporates rapidly, such as petrol. The petrol its self is non flammable, but it is highly volatile and petrol vapour is highly flammable. Milk is no more volatile than water and uranium is a solid, so thats not very volatile either!
The volatility of something refers to its ability to evaporate and turn to gas. The more volatile-the easier it is to evaporate. I think milk can easily evaporate(so its volatile), but I'd imagine uranium, because its a heavy metal and so has tightly packed atoms, would need A LOT of heat to become volatile.
