Body Twitches
4 Answers
For the longest time I remember I've twitched. Now, granted these are small twitches they are more like a full body sneezes. I don't feel them build up. I just twitch ( like a sneeze ) and then afterwards I'm back to normal. It doesn't happen all the time, but they usually occur maybe once or twice a day at random times. I don't think that they are seizures of any sort but I am not sure. I'm just wondering what they - could - be?

I think it's got something to do with the body getting ready for the dream phase of sleep, in which it is necessary temporarily to paralyse the muscles in order ot prevent the body from acting out the contents of the dream. (Sleepwalking is when the paralysis doesn't work properly).
That's just what I was going to say bernado! It happens to me too...about as often as a couple of times a day. I've been told that when it happens in the day & not part of the falling asleep process, it is because of a sudden lack of oxygen to the brain. There are circumstances where it could indicate certain types of epilepsy...if it's worrying you then I'd go to the Doc just to get it checked. I reckon a lot of people get this though.
i have both general and partial seizures. at first my "tics" were only occasional (maybe once or twice a week). now i have them several times every day. the frequency seemed to raise just after a decrease in medication. however, i read the statement one person made about sleep and/or lack of oxygen. i do get them just before i sleep. plus i do have sleep apnea which is lack of oxygen. so i wonder which source or maybe both could this increase be caused by. time to call the doc i guess.
