Hi Buddie,
Most people I know have problems when using Norton, so ditch it in favour of Avast or AVG.

Use a spyware prog too to spot any rogue web pages you may encounter. Spyware Doctor is good from PCTools, but there are also many others out there too.

To help avoid losing all your data, try doing backup every few weeks onto CDr or DVDr. That way if your hard disc dies or becomes infected you've only lost a small amount of work. Win XP has this facility built in , so I'm sure Vista must have it too. If not try using backup software such as Acronis True Image or similar.

As for using a memory stick, you can either use it like another hard drive (it will appear as a drive in My Computer )or just drag n drop files onto it.

I think you could do a lot worse than use Microsoft's software. It's free and I've always found it to be superb.

thanks all you lot, have downloaded microsoft onecare which helps. Tried to get trials of avg and some others but could n't complete the download because they don't give you A license key number. So tomorrow I will go to that famous PC store and buy one of them instead.
Thanx for all your help, youv'e been great I guess I'm just pretty dumb whgen it comes to computers.
