What happens inside the penis during an erection which blocks off the urine tube and connects the semen tube?

The tubes are always connected, but if my knowledge of biology is correct, the Cowper's gland prevents urine from flowing at the same time. Sorry that's a bit vague, youmay well get a better answer from someone who knows a bit more about it.
I think your right there, thats why I cant go to the loo when I wake up first thing in the morning I have to let it subside before I can go, bad carmer.
andy is correct, the Cowper's gland acts as a "Shut off valve" to prevent the urine from escaping and comes into action as soon as the blood flows into the penis erection process.
The Cowper's gland assists you so that you can tell if you're coming or going!
