Due to a memory lapse I need a refresher. Can anyone please tell me how to replace a link in with the word HERE. Thank you in advance

A safer method is simply scroll to the bottom of this page and click on tutorial... explained thoroughly there...

Sorry Ethel, do not agree - if you are going to provide a link to help someone you should be aware of whether or not it is a link to an acceptable site - which in this case it is - or why bother answering the question at all? Sorry, just do not see the sense in that.

If you hover over any link that says HERE or similar, the proper URL is displayed in the bottom of your browser. You can check there if you have reason to doubt its validity.

Thanks for all your contributions on this topic. However, I thought last year that I simply highlighted the link and then typed in the word HERE and it became a link in its own right - but just one word. Maybe I was mistaken.

squarebear is correct, but you do have to have the Status Bar being displayed to be able to see it.

If we were to be wary of every link though, we wouldn't click anything. I don't know where http://www.aksi.net/html-tutorial4.htm is going to take me. That could be porn for all I know.

Whether it says HERE or is a full URL gives no indication as to its content.

Now you have to use a form to re-label a hyperlink:

<а һref=hidden_link>displayed message</а>

To use the hyperlink form:

1. Retype (don�t copy/paste) these characters:
<а һref= (Don�t forget the space after the �a�).

2. �Paste� your link without spacing next to the = sign

3. Enter the text you want to appear with your link
>between these<

4. Close your hyperlink with </а>



Example of a hyperlink to this page using HERE for the link:

Works/Preview/Question505272.html>HERE</а>

And here�s the result:

If you want, you can [ preview ] how your hyperlink will appear in your answer and test it before you [ submit! ] it.

Your chances for a successful outcome might be improved by first reverting to the �old AB�.

The hyperlink examples shown here were created with special characters so that they would remain examples and not become links themselves. Copy them for use as a template but retype them once to create your own working hyperlink form.

Thank you mibn2cweus for your welcome and comprehensive answer to my question. Is the new format progress? I wonder! Having been away for a while I have missed new innovations within the website and also notice that the Question Search Facility which used to be down in the left hand corner has been removed. Such a pity, I always found that useful for finding earlier posts and submissions. Oh well - onwards and upwards, as they say. Thanks again. Good luck to you too.

If I understand you correctly the search tab your looking for Threads I'm involved in will be found below your profile.

The search facility I referred to was a window underneath AB Editor's blog in the left hand column where one could type in a topic and then click GO and it took you to all the previous posts relating to that topic. But the new format has scrapped it . . . .grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I see a Search facility along the top and bottom of this page.

Selecting the Site button appears to provide links to an assortment of threads related to the search term/s entered within the currently selected Topic.

Opening a fresh answerbank home page and dragging sir.prize into the search box provided links to 466 threads.

Did you know there's a ******* Austria? lol

Thanks again mibn2cweus. I note your info re Search Buttons. They do indeed provide me with the facility I was looking for. And yes, Austria has always been a favourite place for "Activity Holidays" - lol
