Buy a small set of electronic scales for about 20 and weigh the item before you list it, go onto royalmail.com and see how much the parcel would cost to send in the UK or where ever you are sending it to and just list the postage price on the listing....
Hi there, I have been buying/selling on eBay for a few years now, I tend to use the Royal Mail website to get prices for posting, I weigh the item in question on a set of kitchen scales then look up how much it will cost on there, I haven't gone wrong yet, if something works out at say 1.28 (for example) ask for 1.75 that then allows for packing costs as well, if selling something like a mobile phone then offer recorded delivery as an option, don't forget this costs more, always get proof of posting in case something goes astray.
Have fun.
You need to way the packaging as well, don't forget. It can make a big difference to the cost.

You'll get plenty of advice there
Don't send mobile phones by recorded delivery - unless it sold for under 34.

34 is the maximum compensation Royal Mail will pay out for recorded delivery - all it does is prove somebody signed for receipt of the parcel.
34 maximum compensation on all mail sent 1st class, 2nd class, recorded or not.
Thanks Ethel I hadn't thought of that, I was trying to give an example and it was the first thing that pooped in my head.
