Not sure if this is the right section...
I have 17 per month coming out of my account from somebody called LocalBilling. I noticed on my online banking and then rang the bank. Apparently cancelling my card may not stop them from continuing taking money out of my account? Whats the best way to go about this? Ive tryed to ring LocalBilling but the woman said she has never heard of them.

Thanks

Is this the number you called?

08000513753
Also, is the payment taken from your current account - standing order or direct debit?

Or your credit card?
cancel the direct debit or standing order in writing with your branch. Your card has nothing to do with that,

BUT - that could be a tradename for something else - do you have any accounts at all that this amount applies to?
this them?

http://www.localbilling.com/

Did you buy online?
LocalBilling is used by a few porn sites in the UK - localbilling is simply a money transfer agency - so anyone subscribing to House Wife Bangers (for example) pays LocalBilling who pass the money to the site owners.

I rang the uk number on the website. Its not a direct debit, just 17 out of my account every month. Dont have a subscription to anything that im aware of. I do buy things online but not porn. shop with ebay and a few different websites from time to time... only use paypal when buying from ebay. So if it is a subscription that my card details have been used for will cancelling card not stop it? I could close my account and open a new one...?

Thanks for you current replies

If you are certain that it isn't a direct debit or a standing order, then it will be what is called a Continuous Payment Authority. This is where you have given someone the authority to debit an amount regularly from your account by giving your card details.

Companies such as the AA use it, so do porn sites (amongst others). You can't cancel this authority with your Bank, it has to be done with the company that you originally gave your card details to. Porn sites are well known for taking no notice whatsoever of cancellation requests, in the hope that the person concerned will be too embarressed to take it further.
Forgot to add, even if you have given someone the authority to debit your account once, you may find that it states in the small print that they will debit your account every so often if you do not state otherwise.

Like the AA, if you pay them once by card, their sdmall print says that they will debit your card for the annual subscription every year after that as well unless you cancel.

Lots of people get caught outr like this. Have you ever signed up for a free months trial to any website? If so and you just assumed that would be the end of it when the month was up, that could be what it is.
Is it on your credit card statement, or your current account?
Take all your money out of the bank and go elsewhere!
simple

change your bank accont number

the bank will do this no hassle
You're right willie!
That won't work if it's a credit card account - the credit card company has to make the payment even if the account is cancelled - and they will chase the OP for it.
