Wi-fi laptop - how?
6 Answers
Okay, so I'm a bit dim. I have a home pc with broadband (had wireless but took it out because it was patchy) and now have bought a new wi-fi laptop. I'll get a new wireless router when I have time. My question is - how do I use the laptop in a wireless area, for example, airport, hotel?
I would need instructions in words of one syllable if possible.
Thanks a lot.

There will be an icon in the system tray - right click on that then 'view available wireless network'.
Click on the appropriate network and click 'connect'. That's it.
However, it is unusual for it to be free. You have to subscribe to either Openzone or The Cloud (usually) and buy credit - they both operate as pay as you go.

all as fay's post above (ethel you been banned again.. why??) but on top of that if you want to use your wifi in a hotel or similar then they will give you a network key (password if you like) and when you try to connect to their network you will have to type that key in.
Watch out for public wifi spots, they are fine to use for general stuff but don't do stuff like internet banking using them... massive security risk if you do.
