How DOES it work?

Hello peeps. I am shortly going back to my lovely home country of South Africa. I think an AnswerBank-type site would go down pretty well in SA - could some of you regulars tell me what you think it would take to make such a site work, and some of the issues you guys had at the outset ?? The current owners wouldn't know much about the start of the site as they only bought it over a few months ago...try doing a google search for a company called "front of mind" and they might (then again they most likely won't) tell you about the genesis of this site.

The success of this like any other site is the advertising. You need to find away to get people to come. I think there have been 2 successfull strategies in the past, luck or tons of money (and I mean millions).
