I was writing with a black permanent marker on paper on top of my wooden chest of drawers and the pen has gone through onto the wood. I was wondering how and if I can get this off? I haven't tried anything yet but I do need to get it off because its my landladys furniture. Help! x

nail polish remover , orange juice .
Nail polish remover is ideal for most inks - even permanent - but if the ink has gone into the wood then I think you'll have to learn to live with your mistake. If it is only on 'veneered' chipboard furniture you shouldn't have a problem.
Cut out the spot/s where the permanent ink is located.
Sol - U - Mel sold by Melaleuca does actually remove permanent marker. I can't guarantee that it will work for you but it's worth a shot. http://www.melaleuca.com/wc/PLong.cfm?cnt=969& pi=110&t=0
white spirit works a treat on permanent marker. The probelm you have is that the wood will have soaked alot of the ink up, so yo may ve to do a bit of rubbing down.

matrix, it might be against Kamagirl beliefs to invoke spirits.
unless she goes to church and catches the holy spirit while fellowshiping, or perform voodoo rituals.
Be sure to try any solution somewhere that can't be seen to make sure it doesn't cause more damage. I would even try making a mark with the pen as part of the test.

Solvents may spread the mark rather than remove it and many will damage the finish.

You may be better trying to fade it. Some things bleach better with Oxyalic acid than chlorine bleaches.

A friend of mine used to use "Mr Sheen" furniture cleaner to remove permanent marker from plastic. However I think it is an Australian product and I have no idea what is in it.
Try hair bleach........from Boots (for bleaching hair)
Use Dry Erase Marker, then wipe with a paper towel. If you use alcohol-based stuff on solid wood, you'll probably ruin it/

OK, let me start with I don't knowif this will work on wood but:

I'm forever doing this at work on the white NOBO boards. I write over the permanent marker with the NOBO pens that can be erased - then wipe off and amazingly it takes the permamnent marker with it - strange but true!
