I have just been given this TV with no manual and can not get any sound having tuned it in. It is not set to mute! Does anyone know what the problem could be and if not where I can download a manual?

I have no found a manual on line at www.mastercare.co.uk but it no help :-(
I wonder if someone has been listening to the tv using headphones, so that the sound is still stuck on them ? Have you got any headphones you could try to plug in to the headphone jack, then remove and see if that has cleared it.
Or, do you have cable or sky with the sound muted on them ?

Tried the headphones idea but it made no difference. The TV is independant of cable or any freeview box at the moment.
Long shot here, have you tried the tv with a freeview box plugged in ?

The speakers might have blown in the tv, in which case it's probably not cost effective to fix it.
Possible you were given the TV because it was broken. If it was working maybe you wouldn't have gotten it.
That did cross my mind too, lajohn, but it was worth a try for pjn to ask, it might have been something easily solved.

Thanks both. I`m pretty sure the TV worked at my friends. I`ll try it through my Freeview box and see how I get on !

Still no joy :-(
Have you got (or can you borrow) a set of headphones to see if anything comes through them ? Is the scart lead fully plugged in - take it out and push back in again, same for aerial connection.
