Shadow Projector ???
5 Answers
My son is looking for a projector or some similar instrument that shows photographs in shadow form. His intention is to produce paintings similar to the famous Andy Warhol 'Marilyn Monroe' type of of thing. Does anyone know of such an instrument. I have trawled the web with no success. Thanks in advance.

For people use the same projector with no slide and trace around the outline of their silhouette, then fill in with paint.
You can probably pick up a 2nd hand projector for about 20.00 at junk markets or bric a brac stores

A local guy has been selling his paintings around the pubs in the east end of Glasgow and has been making loads of money. The bloke says he got his gear from ebay. Apparently the device takes a normal photo and projects it in shadow form which he then paints by hand and sells for 30 quid. I have never heard of such a device either. He could be talking s***e of course but his paintings are excellent.
The cheapest way would be to buy an old OHP (over head projector), find an image and print it on clear plastic and then aim the projector at the wall and copy it that way.
You could use a computer projector to project the computer screen on the wall... but they can be quite expensive.
I think the guy in the pub has one of those.
Just be careful what image you are going to use incase of copyright.
