Am I right in thinking Barnes Wallace designed the spitfire? and how many Sptfires are there that fly today?

Barnes Wallis designed the Wellington Bomber with it's unique Geodesic construction. (and the bouncing bomb and lots of other really clever stuff and he did it himself, not that conman Edison who had teams of people doing the real work and then he patented it/claimed the invention as his)
