sky sports self tune.....

Hi I as in a bar in Ireland the other week and some guy came in and, retuned the TV from the sky menu somehow. He seemed to know the landlord, anyway we where able to watch a game that was not on the menu at all, by putting in some figures for frequency and a couple of other things. Anyone know what occurred here? I was a bit to Guinessed to pay attention but there was some manual tuning function and he had the figures on a piece of paper. anyone know what functions to use use and how you find out the frequencies etc? thanks, ps I do have sky sports as it is so I'm not ripping it off.
