Hubby wants to start using a pay as you go phone that has sat in a drawer for a long time. None of us is sure of the number - he can't put any credit on it till he finds it.

I think there's a way of retrieving the number using the phone - can anyone help please, before I take it into a phone shop?

do u have acess to another mobile.try putting the sim card in that and see if you can get the number.failing that just buy the relevant top up ie the one where you enter the numbers off the slip.you can top it up that way u dont need a swipe card
if it is the sony 750i on the right hand side near the top there are two buttons press the top one and your number will come up on the screen
if your phone has not been used for a few months the sim card may have been blocked. 02 sim cards are free
The chances are that if it's not been used for a long time, the number will have been reallocated anyway.

The easiest way around this is to put a new SIM into it - O2, for example, will send you four free SIMS.

If it's locked to Orange, then an Orange SIM will cost you a fiver from your local high street phone shop.
