Sky+ & Telephone
5 Answers
I have noticed that sometimes during a call I get a signal burst which sounds like someone dialling on my line. After tracking it down, I discovered that the culprit seems to be my Sky+ box as immediately after hearing this signal the "online" light is on. It is not on at any other time.
Anyone with the same problem &/or know how to cure it?

It has not been proven to be caused by the Sky+ box, but I for one do not like the idea of a device that can take control of my telephone line automatically. Since it is only needed when ordering services from Sky, I disconnect the Sky box from the telephone line and only connect it back up when I know I need to order some services.
Thanks for your answers. We have had Sky for some time but only seems to be recently that these calls have been occuring during our own phone calls. It almost seems that when we make a call it "wakes" the Sky box up - I get sick of apologising to the person I am calling. Of course having failed to make the connection the first time, the box tries again a few minutes later. as I keep an eye on my call charges, I know that the box is not making any calls that I am being charged for.
I believe that Sky use the telephone line to update the software in the box, so disconnecting it may prevent you from receiving the latest issues.
