The seal is leaking and has anyone ever
fitted one ? and is it difficult to do ? tia

its easy honest im crap at diy and i did it. as aesy as taking the old one off kinda just in reverse!

Is there a wire or band that holds the seal on ?
So how do you do it ..just pull it off ??

you could try tur ning the seal around so that the leak is at the top this is no joke i have done it many times and it has worked for me good luck''

the new seal will have a diagram with it. It's not difficult at all - just make sure you get one for the exact model machine

It's often a fiddly job rather than a tricky one.

The exact method of doing it varies from machine to machine type, but the basics are the same.

there will be a circular clip on the outside behind the door that has to be removed first and then a large clip right the way round the inside lip where it attaches to the outer drum to be removed, then remove the rubber.

when putting the new one on make sure it is fitted properly over the lip on the inner drum, refit the clip then do the same for the outide on the front of the machine.

with hotpoints it's often easier to remove the entire front panel of the machine to do the job.

Be careful following gulliver1's advice of turning it round as some door rubbers have a vent hole in them at the top and if you turn it round then it will leak through the vent hole, though if it only has a small leak and no vent hole then turning it round 180degrees is an option.

Before you replace it, check there's no gunge or anything round the seal and if there is, give it a good clean out.

My washine machine was leaking from the bottom of the drum until we cleaned it out and it stopped leaking!

worked as a washing machine engineer for SERVIS for 2 years, best tip is to lubricate the 'slip section' with fairy liquid so it slides on easier. otherwise faily straight forward, if a little fiddly
