iPod Shuffle...

I've just joined the gym and thinking of getting an iPod shuffle. I was wondering how do you actually put songs (or itunes) onto the iPod. Can you put songs from your PC to the iPod? Thanks.

You download them, you also need to download the programe which loads them onto your ipod. I did not find it easy on my daughters, but once i got the hang of it my 11 year old can do it. We have other players but they are MP3's which i found easier to use and managed to add most of my cd collection.
I don't have an Ipod and never will have as I believe you need itunes (downloaded easily enough) to manage the music. That might be fine, but when I did it as a favour to load up an ipod for someone without a PC at the time, it completely took over my music, and became the default player and that I didn't want. I am sure you can rip your own CD's, but I don't know for sure.
Also I believe you can only buy stuff from itunes, and that has DRM, wich again issomething I don't want - if I buy stuff, I want to buy it, not effectively lease it tp play on a few machines. I buy now from Amazon, which are DRM free.
Course, as I said, I don't have an Ipod, so I am only talking based on my brief experience - someone will know more

I agree with Matt that iTunes is the easiest music handling service but you do NOT have to buy music from itunes to use your iPod.
You can burn all your CD's and the music will be stored in iTunes (if that's what you decide to use), it will store them alphabetically by artist or song or album.
You can download music from Torrents sites and iTunes will happily store them for you.
When you are ready to transfer music to your iPod, just tick the box next to the song on iTunes you want to be put on your iPod, plug in the USB and it will copy it over for you.
