ive bought a new tv and a glass stand...i am getting a static shock every time i touch the dvd..video recorder..is there any way to stop this...thankyou

Are you sure it's static? As it's new, could it be faulty? If there is any minute possibility that it may be, get it checked by a professional. Any electric shock from electrical equipment is potentially dangerous.

Agree with SJP! This doesn't sound like static. If the equipment was earthed and you perhaps had a nylon or man made fibre carpet then static could be a problem.
But TVs and associated ancilliary gear are generally not earthed....they have a two core mains lead.
I get a tingle if I touch the sky box and the DVD together ive got my volt meter out, yes i'm a sparky, and get 50 volts between them, if you are worried about it get it tested as most DVD players are not earthed and can have a tendancy to have a slight voltage coming off the cover. Ive known before a Sky box to trip an RCD out as the box cover is earthed thru the coax cable connected to the dish as the dish is fixed to the wall...
