Problem with Microsoft Word

I have done this before and can't remember how to change it back. When I type over a word, instead of moving the word along and making it longer, the letters type OVER the other letters and delete them. Help please !

Press the "insert" key and try again.

Note there is a Technology section on Answerbank, and under that is a Computer section. There is also an Internet section under Technology.

VHG ... You answered me on TV the same way you answered smurchops here What are you- some kind of traffic cop just directing people to other sites. You seem to know where to send people but not how to help them and you do it in a dismissive manner...think on...
